Charitable Quilting Organizations

Project Linus
... Providing Security Through Blankets

"Wrap Them in Love Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt organization created to help needy children of the world.
Our Mission is to collect donated quilts and distribute them to children around the world so, they can be wrapped in the love of a quilt.

As we all know, a quilt is a very special thing. It isn't just a blanket.
It has been lovingly created by a real person.
A quilter leaves a part of themselves in every quilt they make.
The child who receives that quilt will be able to snuggle up in all the love that comes in a quilt"

"The QUILT FOR A CURE™ campaign was initiated by Bonnie Benn Stratton whose mother is a breast cancer survivor. As a textile designer and corporate consultant for the quilting industry, Bonnie works with Hi-Fashion Fabrics, Inc., designing fabrics in cotton for their Timeless Treasures division. A portion of the purchase price of every single yard in all of theStratton Collections is donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in behalf of QUILT FOR A CURE™. "

"Every participant received 50 blocks for their own state quilt. Many in our group traveled to Virginia to help sort the 2500 quilt blocks and to sew two red, white and blue charity quilts together for breast cancer research. There are now 18 Nifty Fifty Exchange groups following in our footsteps. Each group is making one or more charity breast cancer quilts. NF 1 through 3 have completed their exchanges and we will place photos of their NF quilts on this page as soon as they are completed. "

"The UFO-rphanage for Quilters is a wonderful place to send all those quilting and sewing UFO's (Un Finished Objects), and other orphans--blocks that aren't quite square, tops that didn't turn out as you hoped, 'ugly' fabrics (no longer to your taste, you're tired of looking at, or you wonder why you ever bought), as well as books, patterns, magazines, craft supplies, knit or crochet projects, and many other things."

" Quilts for Kids, Inc. transforms discontinued designer fabrics into quilts that comfort children with cancer, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses, as well as battered & abused children. Our goal is to bring design centers nationwide together with volunteers in their own communities, so that children in need locally will be served ."

"When you look at our mission of making and providing necessity items to needy infants in Ohio, the obvious need for volunteers with sewing, knitting and crocheting skills is evident. If you enjoy doing these things, by all means get in touch with your closest representative of Touching Little Lives and find out how to join us. One of the wonderful things about our group is that we offer assistance during our Work Group meetings to those that have the interest and desire, but may be lacking in skills or just want to learn something new."

""Our American Children" truly are our future, yet today for many
their future does not look well. EACH and EVERY day in the USA there are
over 34 NEW cases of cancer in children. Our quilts, made by YOU the volunteers across the country, give not only the child but also their families and all medical staff the gift of hope."

Tink's Special Christmas Project 2007
I found a wonderful place to donate blankets and other items to our soldiers overseas.  Now in January 2008, my son is in the Army stationed in Seoul, S. Korea.  Who'd a thought?
Click on the link above to check out how to donate. It's sew easy!!!     God Bless, Tink
